XNA UK User Group

A helping hand for bedroom coders throughout the land.

Welcome to the XNA UKUG!

XNA?

The Microsoft XNA Framework is a managed API and tools for creating games. The API runs on Windows and on retail Xbox 360 consoles (even for those of us who have dev kits that's pretty exciting). XNA is bringing game development to many people who had previously never tried it and helping jaded game developers get what they want quick.

UK?

The UK has a rich history of game development. Companies like Rare, Criterion Software, Realtime Worlds and Lionhead Studios have been producing world quality games and games development software for decades. They have also been gathering together in pubs (and the occasional other place) to bitch, whine and have a laugh.

User Group?

That's where we come in. Join the XNA UK User Group and you can also experience being in a pub with a volatile mix of coders, artists and loud-mouthed game designers. It's not just meetings though, we have forums for getting help and joining up with other people and we will be posting articles and examples on using XNA.

Competition!

The competition is over. Results are available in this blog post. Watch this space for news of our next one!

Who are we?

The group was founded by Leaf Garland and Robin Deitch, with a little help from Microsoft. Robin is a veteran games industry artist (among other things), currently working for himself at Slide. Leaf is good at telling computers what to do, and has worked for all sorts, including games companies. Send your emails to leaf or robin at this site.
