Show & Tell at Microsoft's Cardinal Place, Victoria, London - Friday May 16th 2008

After some discussion in this thread, the next user group event is going to be in May at Microsoft's offices near Victoria train station, in London.

We'll have a room with some computers, Xbox 360 consoles and hopefully a projector or large screen. So, we're looking for people to bring stuff in to show us - games, demos, broken things that you don't know how to fix, whatever as long as it's XNA. Robin and I will be showing some of our top secret project that we've been working on for years (mostly Robin's work) too.

We'll have the room from 6pm - 8pm with some drinks and snacks thanks to Microsoft. Afterwards, we'll decamp to a nearby pub for the rest of the night (suggestions for a pub that wont be rammed on a Friday night are very welcome).

To be sure of numbers and to be certain you can gain access to the offices please post here or email us to reserve a place.

    See you there!

     Hi,

I'm game, got a few bits and pieces i can show. I cant seem to find the playoff final dates to make a long weekend out of it though :( so if anyone finds out drop me an e-mail :).

I'll be making my way down by train from manchester picca'lily so if anyones thinking of heading out via the same route and want a bit of company on the way down drop me a line  :)

I dont know any pubs in london unfortunately but i'll put my vote to any real ale pubs in the area preferably selling hobgoblin and the like lol.

ps. Theres a couple of lads from uni who might be interested in attending as well so i'll post back here when i find out who if any of the slackers is coming with me.

I'd be up for coming, especially after coming along uninvited last time! I could give a quick run-through of my GUI library if anybody's interested. What kind of time slots are ae talking?

    Thanks,

    Aaron

Have booked my ticket, going to work from home in the morning so no need to dash home to get my train, I will be pulling into St Pancs around about 16:30, anyone else arriving in and around then fancy meeting up??

Will probably gab some dinner and a beer then head for Victoria via tube, anyone recommend a decent place to eat around there??

We haven't got fixed time slots yet, it depends on how many folks have something they'd like to show. From the responses here, it sounds like 15-20 minutes at a time.

I want to come to this meet - maybe a bit close to exams, but at least it's better than the game careers fair which ended up running the same day as my final dissertation presentation :'(

15-20 minutes sounds like plenty of time to introduce each game, but it would be nice to have time for everyone to play it too.  Problem is, depending on the game, people might happily play it for hours in one sitting :P

I guess maybe in the pub afterwards we can get some more relaxed gaming/playtesting in - As long as we don't get kicked out for screaming fighting talk...

Anyway.  I definately want to see what everyone's been up to, and more importantly get everyone hooked on Insane Game 3 (muahahahahahaha).  I might be able to precure a laptop, but it would be handy if everyone was able to upload their games or bring it on USB, and for someone to be willing to compile and run them once we're all there.

I am very interested. We are a group of 4 young professionals currently working on a XNA project together. Not sure we will be able to come up something decent to show before the meeting, but definitely want to check out what others are doing.

Not exactly sure how to book our places in this meeting. 2 entries required.

     Cheers

    Hey all,

looks like we've got a good response here, that's cool. Looking forward to meeting you all on Friday.

Regarding getting in, I need to double check with Microsoft but basically you should head for Cardinal Place (big, modern, glass building across the road from the main entrance to Victoria Station) at 6pm, tell the first reception/security that you're going to Microsoft then head for the first floor and Microsoft's reception. Tell them that you're here for the XNA user group meeting and they'll call us to come get you. My phone number is 07801 936980, take that down and call if you're having any difficulty getting in.

I'll confirm this later today or tomorrow once I've spoken to Microsoft.
