A helping hand for bedroom coders throughout the land.

Home

Welcome to the home of the XNA UK User Group.

Our next meeting is on Wednesday 7th December at 7pm - Find out more here.

XNA?

Microsoft XNA Framework is a managed API and tools for creating games. The API runs on Windows and on retail Xbox 360 consoles (even for those of us who have dev kits that's pretty exciting) and now Windows Phone 7. XNA is bringing game development to many people who had previously never tried it and helping jaded game developers get what they want quick.

UK?

The UK has a rich history of game development. Companies like Rare, Criterion Software, Realtime Worlds and Lionhead Studios have been producing world quality games and games development software for decades. But for a while it looked like days of the bedroom games developer were behind us.

Not any more! The recent resurgence of mobile & casual games, plus the abillity to put you games up on the XBox Indie Games for all to try & buy means there has never been a better time to have a go. So, grab your free dev tools firmly by their wireless bits, and get developing!

User Group?

The XNA UK User Group is all about bringing together like minded coders, artists & game designers. Whether you are a professional developer, amateur enthusiast or you are just wanting to see what game coding is all about - this is the place to start.

We have forums for getting help and joining up with other people and lots of articles and examples on using XNA.

Blogs from the UK's top XNA enthusiasts on a ton of topics including:

  • Game Architecture
  • Sounds & Music
  • AI Techniques
  • Vertex & Pixel shaders
  • 3D Modellers & Modelling
  • The Publishing Process

There's also an opportunity for you to show us what you've been up to, or maybe ask for some advice about something you're working on or even just planning.

Meetings!

We also meet on the 1st Wednesday of each month in the Midlands (near Coventry & about 25 minutes from Birmingham). If you want to meet us in person then:
