Competition Game Play Category

Category 3: Game play

Submit a playable game to be judged over the following categories. A team prize will be awarded for the best game in each category:

a. The best overall game, to be judged on:

i. Vision/potential
ii. Fun
iii. Production/Aesthetics

b. The game that makes the best use of competition materials from Category 1: Art and Category 2: Sound. Best use is defined in terms of interactivity with the game, for example - using the mood music to react to the current game play or development of submitted concept art into game art.

The start of the coding challenge is 15th June 2007, at that point we will tell you of the mandatory elements that you should include in your games. The mandatory elements will consist of a few items that you will need to ensure your game has. These may be a graphical element, a sound or some aspect of game design.

Once we have released details of the mandatory elements you will have 48 hours before the submission deadline on the 17th June 2007. The mandatory elements should be simple enough for you to work into your game within the 48 hours. You are not expected to code your entire game in 48 hours but you should try to keep your game flexible enough, to incorporate the mandatory elements.

Part of the requirements for your entry will be that it should use the XNA UK User Group Credits Component at the start of the game. This will display a couple of logos and provide a way for you to credit any one whose art or sound entries you used in your game.
