Competition Artwork Category

1. Artwork

As an artist you can enter into one of two possible categories. Your submissions should be entered before the start of the coding challenge, 12th June 2007.

a. Concept art:

The design should be supplied with a scene-setting document, this only needs to be a couple of paragraphs:

  • The first should conjour up a universe for the design to exist in - "This character lives in the Mariana Trench, 10km below sea level, where the only source of light comes from radioactive lantern fish", "This squirrel-controlled mini-submarine patrols the Great Barrier Reef, 1000 years after the human race died out and rodents took over the world"
  • The second should describe the game which should be made using this universe and character/object/vehicle - "It's like Dance Dance Revolution and you compete against increasingly flexible mermaids", "It's Lemmings - with swimming!"

Your design should be submitted as a single jpeg file (maximum size 2000x2000). You can incorporate multiple concepts onto the same image. Have a look here, for some examples of game concept art.

b. Title screen and game box art:

Use the provided template image that represents a the layout of a typical game's box art. You should work your design into this layout.
