As you can see (after much hard work from Simon & Leaf in particular) the new site is now up and running! This is just the first stage of planned improvements over the next few months, but you should see immediate and significant improvements in security, performance & functionality.
However, providing the site infrastructure & keeping it up-to-date is just a small part of creating a vibrant XNA community in the UK – what is most important is contributions from you! What we need now is content, content, content. Please do make use of the forums for questions, discussions & suggestions. We know that lots of people can struggle to get started - the XNA framework can be pretty daunting even if you are a professional C# developer! So don’t worry about the level of your questions. Over the last 12 months I must have met nearly a hundred coders who are interested in XNA to some degree or another – the only thing they have in common is that they love games. So whatever is bugging you, you can bet there is someone else in the same boat - don’t struggle in silence!
In addition to re-vamping the XNA-UK site, we are also kicking off a series of monthly 2-hour XNA meetings based in the Midlands (nr. Coventry) beginning in September. Get over to our sister site XBlig-UK User Group to see more details on registration & the meeting agendas. Many of the contributors to this site will be taking part and it will be a great opportunity to meet like-minded XNA coders for technical presentation and informal discussion. I hope they will be enjoyable evenings, and I will get to meet as many of you as possible – oh, and Pizza is included in the very modest fee… :)
