...So where was I?

Hey hey people,

I'm getting my self back into gear and will be bringing you news on all things audio again....YAY

  • I will be doing a round-up of the current top games on the Xbox Live Marketplace.
  • Starting a "Hall of Fame" classic sound tracks.
  • Checking out any new software available for you to use.
  • And other random bits and bobs

So....apologises again for the absence....I'm back on it.

Sounds good, I like the idea of rating games based on their soundtracks. I know how much bad music and sound effect can make even the best games just feel cheap and nasty.

I always find getting a game to sound right really difficult - after all, there are plenty of packages out there for graphical content, and it's pretty much impossible to get started without graphics, but I find sound often gets left out then added as an afterthought.

Will you be joining the XNA-UK meetings? I for one would be very interested in a talk on what utilities are out there for creating sound effects and how to use them...

Thanks Nemo, its good to be back.

I agree Martin, a game can fall to poor audio implementation or lack of audio in the planning stage of a game. It should be there to enhance not hinder.

Hi Ben, It's true sound is often an after thought. I'll keep finding free audio software that is easily accessible and user friendly as well as starting to bring in more complex programmes. The sound is normally an outsourced aspect of a game. Check out my latest blog that has a neat little site for creating simple retro SFX.

As for the meetings, you mentioning it is the first i've heard of it. So i'll keep my ears open and look into it.

Keep the comments coming (sorry it's taken me a while to reply)
